The annual event typically draws thousands of revelers out the sandy beaches surrounding the historic Pier. As one of the last major cities to officially ring in the New Year, Pacific Park continued their tradition of displaying an animated countdown on their Ferris wheel so people all over the greater Los Angeles area and the world could count off the last seconds of such a difficult year. The countdown is followed by the words “Happy New Year” in many different languages representing LA’s diverse population an recognizing those from all over the world who joined us in celebrating the new year.Ģ020 has been a trying time for people all over the world.
